Dragonfly Film & TV to produce 6×45’ dating series
Prime Video has greenlit Date Night (w/t), an exciting new UK dating show from Dragonfly Film & TV which will launch on Prime Video in the UK and Ireland.
Narrated by Laura Whitmore, the reality series will give viewers a heart-warming and entertaining insight into the minefield of finding love through dating apps, this time with the help of nearest and dearest who at every step will be providing helpful input (or not!).
In the UK, more than half of couples meet on the internet and through dating apps, but in Date Night (w/t) lovelorn singles will search for their perfect partner using a bespoke dating app with a twist. From the comfort of their sofas, alongside their friends and family, the app will be visible on their living room televisions, allowing everyone to see and comment as they browse potential dates, swipe, and chat.
Our singletons can consult with their nearest and dearest on how to craft the perfect opening message, take their advice on whether eligible suitors are up to scratch, and if they secure a ‘match’ the couples will meet for a unique date where every look, flirtatious comment, and awkward remark is filmed for their friends and family back home…
Will the advice of their family and friends help them find their perfect match? Will a second date be on the cards? And will they ultimately find love with the help of their family and friends?
Over six episodes, viewers will step into the living rooms of our diverse group of eager singletons, from a wide spectrum of sexualities and backgrounds, and follow the ups and downs of their dating adventures. Maybe they will even fall in love with some of them along the way…
Richard Bond, Managing Director for Dragonfly Film & TV, said:
“Date Night is an innovative new format that will resonate with the millions of people who have been swiping left and right in the hope of finding love over the past decade. We have an absolutely brilliant group of people looking for love and we’re crossing our fingers that Cupid’s arrow hits the target for some of our contributors.”
A Banijay format originating in Australia, Date Night was originally produced for Nine as a 10 x 30’ weekly series in 2018.
