Unflinching docuseries launches exclusively on Prime Video on 19 August 2026

Academy and BAFTA award-winning filmmaker Kevin Macdonald directs series produced by Plan B/KM Films and Workerbee

Prime Video has released the official trailer and key art for A Beautiful Obsession, the title of its four-part docuseries following Pep Guardiola’s final chapter at Manchester City.  All four episodes launch exclusively on Prime Video on 19 August.

The trailer offers a first look at the raw, unfiltered access granted to Academy and BAFTA award-winning filmmaker Kevin Macdonald. From never-before-seen dressing room moments to boardroom decisions, A Beautiful Obsession shows what was actually happening at the club during a disappointing 2024/25 season and the resurgence of the team to claim a domestic double. It captures a squad in flux: established stars departing, new faces finding their feet, and a manager wrestling with when to let go.

Across two seasons, the series charts a dramatic emotional arc, from the shock of a string of defeats and the fight to claim the final Champions League spot in 2024/25, through a radical squad rebuild, to a redemptive 2025/26 campaign that culminates in a defining clash with Arsenal, an FA Cup Final, and Guardiola’s farewell to the club he transformed. The series will be available to Prime members in the UK, Ireland, Benelux, Nordics, and South East Asia at no additional cost.

The series is directed by Kevin Macdonald alongside City Studios’ John De Caux and produced by Kevin Macdonald for Plan B and Workerbee (part of Banijay UK), and Gavin Johnson and Ged Doherty for City Studios. This is the ultimate account of an emotional farewell that marks the end of an era in English football.

The docuseries will join Prime Video’s wide selection of sports programming, which includes documentaries such as NOVAK DJOKOVIC: The Wolf in Winter, Rory McIlroy: The Masters Wait, Built in Birmingham: Brady & the Blues, Kenny Dalglish and the Amazon Original All or Nothing franchise, including the first iteration in 2019 – All or Nothing: Manchester City, All or Nothing: Arsenal and All or Nothing: Tottenham Hotspur. Prime Video also offers a wide selection of live sport for Prime members globally, including UEFA Champions League football in the UK, Ireland, Germany and Italy, NBA globally, Thursday Night Football in the US, the Masters Tournament in the US, Roland-Garros in France and ICC Cricket in Australia.

As well as sports, this documentary will join the thousands of TV shows and movies available on Prime Video, including UK produced Amazon Original series such as Clarkson’s Farm, Last One Laughing UK and Bait; and Amazon MGM Studios produced series and movies Fallout, Heads of State, Reacher, Red One, Road House, The Accountant 2, The Boys, The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, and The Summer I Turned Pretty.
