Today, BAFTA announces that Location, Location, Location will be recognised with the Outstanding Contribution to Scotland’s Screen Industry award at the BAFTA Scotland Awards ceremony on Sunday 16 November.

The award will be presented to Gerard Costello, the long running executive producer of the show and head of popular factual at IWC Media, and the programme’s established co-hosts, Kirstie Allsopp and Phil Spencer.

This recognition of Location, Location, Location celebrates not only the programme’s longevity in the sphere of Factual Entertainment, but its impact on, and contribution to, Scotland’s screen industries and workforce.

Produced by IWC Media (part of Banijay UK) for Channel 4 since 2000, the flagship programme has aired more than 400 episodes to date across 43 series, making it one of the most successful and long-running programmes produced out of Scotland, having celebrated its 25^th anniversary earlier this year.

The response to Location, Location, Location has inspired various spin-off programmes such as Relocation, Relocation and Kirstie and Phil’s Love It or List It, the latter being produced by Glasgow-based indie Raise the Roof Productions which, off the back of the success of Location, Location, Location, was formed in 2010 by Allsopp, Spencer and former IWC colleagues Sarah Walmsley and Jane Muirhead.

As a training ground for new entrants to the Scottish screen industry, Location, Location, Location – through IWC Media’s development of homegrown talent – has been the starting point for countless production and editorial talent in Scotland. Through such initiatives as TRC’s training scheme, rad Scotland, the team at IWC have displayed a commitment to improving diversity and inclusion, offering paid production placements to underrepresented creatives in the local TV industry.

Its longevity is also testament to sustained effort and careful development over 25 years, never taking the series for granted. We are immensely grateful to C4 for their faith in the show- and to BAFTA for the honour of this Outstanding Contribution Award.”

The BAFTA Scotland Awards 2025 will take place on Sunday 16 November at the DoubleTree by Hilton Glasgow Central.
